Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CarlisleIT) is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of fiber optic cable, military and aerospace electrical contacts, specialty and filtered connectors, cable assemblies, complex harnesses, integrated installation kits, lightweight ARINC trays, and aerospace rack and shelf assemblies.
CarlisleIT started operations in Tarrytown, New York in 1940 as Tensolite. The Tensolite name stands for the finest in miniature insulated wire and cable. A trademark coined from the properties built into all CarlisleIT wire and cable products - high tensile strength and compact lightweight performance. Tensile + Lightweight = "Tensolite". The first insulated wire product produced by the company was used to electrically heat the gloves and flight suits of World War II Air Force pilots. CarlisleIT was an early pioneer in the application of insulation to miniature wire and were one of the first to apply a unique material called PTFE to produce high temperature wire and cable.
